A new curriculum to improve the "quality of life" for people with URinary incOntinence by the use of ICT technologies

Final Meeting - Italy July, 9-10

Introduction
Information systems are essential tools for the acquisition and the increase of knowledge and skills in the field of medicine.

In particular they allow an effective improvement of training, management and organization of hospital staff. So the introduction of eHealth (health services and information delivered or enhanced through the Internet and related technologies) represents the promise of information and communication technologies to improve health and the health care system.

The Uro project is set in this scenario.

In fact this project aims to prepare a "new professional", named "Continence Therapist", in the area of Urinary Incontinence by integrating specific preparation in the field of urology with disciplines principally concerned with gynaecology, obstetrics, physical and rehabilitative medicine, neurology, coloproctology, geriatrics, paediatrics.

It is foreseen the extensive use of New Educational Technologies as well as an E-Learning approach.

The main activities are concentrated on the preparation of a curriculum for appropriate studies for the training of human resources, from both Asian and European countries and course material (content definition, teaching tools, production/printing of course material), their dissemination and the demonstration of the realised training services. In particular the target groups are medical staff of Indian and Chinese Hospitals.

The project, by means of an E-Learning approach and Information Communication Technologies, aims to provide and to test a mechanism for the exchange of information relating to state-of-the-art methodologies and technology in the various components of care and assistance.

The Project Manager is Prof. Massimo De Santo. The Chief Science Officer for the Unisa Research Group is the Dr. Francesco Colace
